Planet Zoo 2 Hero

A week after launch, Planet Zoo 2 is getting two very different reactions. Critics like it, but many players are unhappy with bugs.

What Critics Say

Planet Zoo 2 scores 85 on Metacritic, which counts as generally favorable. Reviewers praise the animals, the new aquariums and aviaries, and the conservation gameplay.

What Steam Players Say

  • Rating: Steam shows “Mixed”, with about 60% positive across roughly 2,600 reviews.
  • Getting worse: On October 15 the game was Mostly Positive, with 72% positive across about 1,700 reviews. By October 20 it had fallen to 60%.
  • Common complaints: Bugs, crashes, animals clipping through each other, delayed inputs and some missing species. Some players with RTX 5070 cards also report graphical glitches.
  • What players like: The nature brush tool, simpler path building and the Wildlife Reserves.

The game peaked at about 45,000 players on Steam on launch day, so many people are playing and reporting problems.

Should You Wait?

Frontier is expected to keep patching the game, and a Mixed label at launch is not always permanent. If bugs worry you, waiting for the first big patches is a reasonable choice. Read our Planet Zoo 2 first look: https://thegamingview.com/planet-zoo-2-first-look/
